4 Steps to The Uptown Wedding Design Experience

It’s time focus on the wedding design of your dreams! You may have a general idea or feeling for what you’re looking for, but once you get into comparing vendors and pulling quotes, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the little decisions that go into making everything come to life. There are such beautiful options everywhere you look (have you gone down the Pinterest rabbit hole yet?)- so how do you focus your vision, determine what is realistic to fit within your budget, and know what vendors to use to provide the necessary decor elements?

Enter: Uptown’s Design Consulting & Styling services!

As wedding design experts, we feel confident in using our proven 4 step process to bring the day you’re dreaming about to life!

Step 1

We will start by having you complete a design questionnaire, followed with a lengthy consultation discussing your design ideas and preferences, and reviewing any inspiration images.

We recommend going into the design consultation with a Pinterest board or collection of inspiration photos. We’ll review what elements you love and what things you may not care for. When collecting inspiration, the key is to find images with a wide range of design elements. You don’t have to love every single aspect of the photo, just bits & pieces.

Whether you’re aiming for a modern minimalistic affair or a romantic garden soiree, we know how to take that overall vision and break it down into the individual pieces that make sure that vibe becomes reality. Our goal is for your wedding to be a true reflection of you and your partner, and incorporate unique details to tell your story.

Pro tip: try skimming through bridal design inspirational blogs before the consultation to get an idea of the wide range of wedding design styles out there. (ex: Style Me Pretty, Bridal Musings, June Bug, Green Wedding Shoes) When you branch out of the styles that you may have seen over and over again from friend’s weddings (or the ones Pinterest wants you to see through advertising) you may find something a little more unique that inspires you, and will set your wedding apart!

Step 2

We will create your custom Wedding Design Board- a coheisve multi-page actionable design plan with coordinating colors and decor elements that incorporates your preferences. When building out your design board we use a mix of items your venue provides and rentals like linens, napkins, flatware, glassware, chargers, furniture, draping and lighting. We’re strategic in our selection of rental items to ensure we maximize your decor budget.

(we include two complimentary edits to ensure you totally ecstatic about the outcome!)

As wedding designers, this piece is a blast and allows us to use our creativity along with our knowledge of what’s available from vendors in the Austin area. When we create design boards for our clients, we can already tune into the joy the day will bring!

Step 3

Once a design plan has been finalized, we will provide you with a customized list of vendor recommendations. This list is curated based on the vendors that best fit your overall style, venue location & event budget. From there, we hand it off to you to handle contracting with vendors & ordering all your decor items!

Insider Tip: Design Consulting & Styling is an add-on option with our Wedding Coordination & Partial Planning Packages. Our Full Service Planning comes with Design included + we help you with booking/managing ALL decor vendors.

On top of curating the design elements, we know the local rental company inventories and build a design based on streamlining where rentals come from. This allows us to maximize the decor budget and minimize delivery & late night pick up fees.

Step 4

Now for executing on your wedding day! Your Uptown Planner will oversee the install of all your decor selections and style each element to ensure it fits within your overall vision.

We are meticulous with making sure every detail is perfect, from straightening every set of flatware, to checking that each set of greenery and floral is draped just right.

Jessica met with us to understand the look and feel of our wedding and then put together a beautiful design board for us. Not only did it perfectly capture our vision, but it came with detail like the color of the tablecloth from an actual Austin rental company. This was fantastic because we were able to order linens sight unseen while planning our wedding from Houston. We were also able to forward this board directly on to our florist who helped bring the vision to life. A really great service option if you’re wanting to take ownership in some of the planning but with a little guidance!
